Honey Bun Cookie: A tender cookie swirled with cinnamon and smothered with a golden honey butter glaze.

This Week’s Picks
This week’s theme is not immediately discernible from the flavors listed, but once you learn that the theme is “Road Trip Week,” it definitely makes sense. All of the flavors are references to snacks or drinks you’d likely find at a gas station or a 7-Eleven, and the theme was very appropriate for me personally as I happened to take a road trip out of New York City this week for a two week vacation upstate.
All of the options looked good to me with the exception of the Flamin’ Lime Crunch Cookie, which creates a combination of flavors and ingredients that has no appeal to me. It clearly has its basis on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and while I’m certain it appeals to certain junk food fanatics, the combination of spicy, cream cheese, cookie and lime did not look like something I’d enjoy.
I opted to go for the Wild Cherry Blue Razz Slushy Cookie, Berry Limeade Cookie, White Drop Cookie, and Honey Bun Cookie. I had been saving up my points in the Crumbl app for a while now, so I was able to get the entire 4-pack for free. I made a second stop again later in the week, picking up two desserts, one of which was not listed in the lineup this week but has always been one of my favorites: Cookies & Cream Tres Leches Cake.
Wild Cherry Blue Razz Slushy Cookie
This is the dessert I was most excited for this week, and it didn’t disappoint at all. The lemon cookie was soft with the sugar grains adding a slight crunch, and the blue raspberry and cherry mousse frosting was the perfect taste and texture. This cookie clearly had the idea of a Slurpee/ICEE in mind. I thought it was a good choice to have a cookie with a lemon flavored base rather than a normal sugar cookie, as the flavors of blue raspberry and cherry blended well with the fruitier flavor of the cookie itself. Aside from the references to slushy drinks like Slurpees and ICEEs, it also reminded me of rainbow Italian ices or Bomb Pops. Additionally, this was the cookie I knew I had to come back for again later in the week.

Berry Limeade Cookie ft. NERDS Gummy Clusters
This cookie was also a promising one, with another soft fruit-flavored cookie as opposed to a normal sugar cookie. I haven’t eaten Nerds candy much since my childhood, but I have really liked the relatively new Nerds Gummy Clusters, and the combination with the lime cookie and strawberry lemonade buttercream frosting worked well. I could’ve done with a few more than three of the Nerds Clusters, but overall the cookie was a good play on fruity gas station candy.

White Drop Cookie ft. HERSHEY’S Cookies ‘n’ Creme
In my initial trip to Crumbl this week, this cookie was the only one I had tried in the past. While many cookies ‘n’ cream desserts from Crumbl are based off Oreos, this one is more directly similar to the actual Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme chocolate bar. The cookies ‘n’ cream chunks and white drop frosting were evenly distributed, and a piece of Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme chocolate is featured in the middle. This cookie is one I always feel is a safe choice whenever it’s featured on the menu.

Honey Bun Cookie
This cookie is a lot simpler than the others featured this week, with just a cinnamon base and honey butter glaze, no elaborate toppings or frosting. It is an obvious reference to honey buns, frequently seen at gas stations, 7-Elevens, and local bodegas, and often made by Hostess or Little Debbie. The cookie itself was good, similar to the Churro Cookie that I’ve had from Crumbl multiple times, with the glaze instead of cinnamon frosting.

Bonus: Cookies & Cream Tres Leches Cake
Crumbl’s Tres Leches Cakes never disappoint; I’ve had the normal one and the Cookies & Cream one both multiple times, as well as others that they’ve introduced (one in recent memory that comes to mind was a Biscoff Tres Leches Cake, which was particularly good). They’re noticeably bigger than the normal cookies, and these really do need to stay refrigerated for freshness, but tend to last me longer than most Crumbl desserts. As a result, they are usually a dollar or two more expensive, but as I still had a lot of points leftover even after using them for the 4-pack, I was able to get this one for free as well. I was surprised to see it on the menu when I visited the second time, as it was not listed on the rotating or classic flavors list, but it’s not the first time a Crumbl dessert has popped up unexpectedly later in the week. It’s possible that it required similar ingredients to the White Drop Cookie, and was likely exclusive to the Crumbl I went to rather than available at all locations, but I’m only speculating on that. Regardless, the soft frosting and chocolate cake underneath always go well together without being too heavy.

Dessert of the Week
As expected, the best dessert this week was the Wild Cherry Blue Razz Slushy Cookie. As previously mentioned, I went back a second time to get it again. When I saw the preview of the cookie, I was worried the frosting would be cream cheese, as the texture looked similar to some of Crumbl’s past cookies with cream cheese frosting, but luckily it turned out to be mousse with cherry and blue raspberry flavor, which I think honestly makes more sense in this scenario even if you’re a fan of cream cheese frosting in general.

This week included a lot of good choices, most being new additions to the menu, with previously featured items being reliable favorites. The pleasant surprise of the availability of the Cookies & Cream Tres Leches Cake in the second half of the week is what really brought the rating up by half a point.
Final Thoughts
It was an interesting coincidence that Crumbl decided to do a “Road Trip” theme for the menu just before I was about to go on a road trip myself. I almost considered trying the Flamin’ Lime Crunch Cookie just to be able to describe the experience, but ultimately felt it wasn’t worth it. The SNICKERS Peanut Butter Cookie was also one I’ve had before and is also a good choice, but I was more interested in the other desserts this week and decided to skip it this time. I feel in regards to thin cookies that the S’mores Cookie Thins have been showing up a bit too frequently lately, and would’ve liked to see a different flavor this week; maybe even one of the new ones that showed success during last week’s thin-only theme.
Next week will feature a soda theme, and based on some of the previews that I’ve seen and potential dessert choices, it could become my best-reviewed week so far.
