This Week’s Picks
I’m not the biggest fan of the back-to-school season, as many of my memories from school aren’t the ones I’m fondest of, but the dessert choices for this themed Crumbl week were promising. I went with the After School Brownie, the Strawberry Milk Cookie, the Confetti Dunker Cookie, and the Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza Cookie, as well as the Back To School Sugar Cookie.
Additionally, if you checked out last week’s review, you’ll note that I missed out on a potentially good choice: the Vanilla Chocolate Gelato Cookie. I decided if it was available at any of the Crumbls within my vicinity this week (as occasionally happens; sometimes Crumbl has leftover ingredients to continue making cookies or other desserts from the previous week on the following Monday) I would go there and get it, but I wasn’t expecting that to be the case. In reality, it turned out the Crumbl closest to me had it, so I ended up getting a six-pack this time.
After School Brownie

I have been consistently a fan of Crumbl’s brownies and frequently like them even better than most of their cookies, and this was not an exception. This brownie was pretty simple, with only some fudge icing and rainbow sprinkles as extra ingredients other than the brownie itself. I think the idea here was to be comparable to Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies, which actually were one of my favorite after school snacks when I was in middle school. The deli across the street from my school would have them sometimes, but often they wouldn’t, making it a more exciting experience when they did. I’m actually no longer a big fan of most Little Debbie desserts including the Cosmic Brownie, but Crumbl’s interpretation makes for a more legitimate dessert.

Strawberry Milk Cookie

Other than the sugar cookie, this was the only dessert on the lineup this week that I have tried in the past. It’s a frequent favorite of mine and I always am glad to see it back on the menu, as the cookie is soft and the strawberry mousse is good but not overly rich. Be aware that the Pirouline wafer straw doesn’t stay crunchy for long.

Confetti Dunker Cookie

This cookie was made with ingredients I always like (buttercream, sprinkles, cake batter). I immediately get the sense that this cookie is trying to emulate Dunkaroos, which is another pretty common after-school snack. I never had original Dunkaroos as a snack, but I’ve had desserts in the past that were based off them, and I always end up enjoying them, including in this case. The cookie itself is not as soft as most of the other desserts this week, but I still feel they were a worthy inclusion for the week.

Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza Cookie

This was another cookie with a good premise, and leans more into the idea of actual fruit as an after-school snack rather than less healthier options. I tasted both the kiwi and the strawberry in the frosting, and the hint of strawberry in the sugar cookie itself. However, with this one I did make one mistake: not refrigerating it. I don’t always refrigerate Crumbl desserts even when they recommend them “chilled,” mainly because I find they are softer and taste better and don’t actually go bad when they are left out. This one was an exception; after just a day, the strawberry and kiwi on top were covered in mold, and a few days later, the frosting had mold on it too. This issue was entirely my fault and could have been prevented had I kept it in the fridge, so I won’t take it far into consideration for its rating.

Back To School Sugar Cookie

This was another time when Crumbl decided to make its weekly sugar cookie a normal one rather than an almond one, with regular vanilla frosting rather than almond frosting, which in my opinion would make more sense to have regularly on the Classic Flavors menu. I feel the idea in this case is to have a sugar cookie very similar in style to frosted sugar cookies that can be found in most supermarkets under different brand names. It is effectively the same cookie as the Patriotic Sugar Cookie I had during Crumbl’s 4th of July lineup when I did my first review, but for some reason I found myself enjoying it a bit more this time, so it’s possible it was made slightly differently.

Dessert of the Week
As expected, dessert of the week goes to the After School Brownie. Genuinely, almost every time Crumbl makes a brownie a part of the lineup it becomes my favorite of that week, and although I do like the complicated ones that they sometimes do, it was nice to have a simpler one for a change.
Overall Weekly Rating
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
This week had a more general theme than the very specific European dessert theme of last week, but pretty much every option was good (although once again, I refrain from trying those with cream cheese).
Final Thoughts
I was not expecting to get another six-pack so shortly after the soda themed week, and probably wouldn’t have if not for the return of the Vanilla Chocolate Gelato Cookie. I did go back a second time to pick up some of my favorites, including the After School Brownie, the Strawberry Milk Cookie, and the Confetti Dunker Cookie. Honestly, I do wish I had also picked up the Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza Cookie and actually refrigerated it, but I didn’t want to buy a whole four-pack for a mid-week second trip; maybe if it’s available Monday, I’ll get it again.
Next week has a hotly anticipated Minecraft theme that was essentially revealed on social media earlier in the week, and I look forward to trying most of the desserts on the lineup.
